Our Story
Judy Crone, the founder of Deer Lake Child Care, started working as an Early Childhood Educator in 1983. Since that time she has had many wonderful opportunities in this field and has worked with children from 0 - 19yrs. Along with many years of working on the floor with children, she has had the opportunity to work as a consultant to child care settings and families, managing child care facilities and teaching Early Childhood Education at the college level.
It has always been her dream to be able to support children and families in her own preschool and she was thrilled when this came to be in September 2011. Since then, she has been providing an exceptional preschool program to young children in Burnaby. In 2017, she observed the great need for a full-day care & learning centre for local families, resulting in the expansion of Deer Lake Preschool to a Full-Day Program - later to become Deer Lake Child Care. She acknowledges that social-emotional learning is key for all children to have a successful life, so she took a further step and established Deer Lake East Preschool, our Part-Day program, at 7837 Canada Way.

As the Manager of Deer Lake Child Care and Deer Lake East Preschool, she feels so honoured to have a staff team that is committed to providing a high-quality preschool and child care program. We are proud to offer an inclusive, play-based setting where we work hard to instill a love and excitement for learning. In order to reach that goal, we encourage and support children to learn to investigate, create, and take appropriate risks in and outside of our classroom.

In 2022, as a grandmother of two grandchildren, she decided to share more time with her beloved family.
The educators at Deer Lake Child Care are continuing the vision from Judy and are committed to carrying on Judy's legacy to provide an inclusive environment where children and families can strive and grow in a kind and responsible community.
